Last year of the third-gen Mazda3, 108 complaints, and every top cluster is electronics or a recall: the infotainment screen cracking and ghost-touching, wipers that quit in the rain, a rear camera recall Mazda took a year to fix. The engine and gearbox are absent from the record, which on a Mazda3 is what you expect. A very good used car whose faults are all visible from the driver's seat.

Infotainment screen 'spider cracks', ghost touches, and false collision warningsMedium

The largest cluster: the centre screen developing fine cracks and opaque corners on its own, jumping between functions, and the forward-collision and lane-assist warnings appearing in cold weather then all the time. The screen is a known Mazda Connect fault; the false warnings are usually the windshield camera needing a clean or a recalibration.

Recall 19V272 covers 2016–2018 Mazda3s: a defective wiper relay leaves the wipers stuck or dead. Owners describe two fast wipes, then nothing, in a storm. Free relay replacement. All 16 visibility complaints are this.

Rear camera flickers or goes blank (recall) — remedy took over a yearLow

Recall 23V487: the rearview camera image flickers or does not display. Announced July 2023 with no fix available; owners were still waiting in mid-2024. Check not just that the recall exists but that it shows complete.

Wrong exhaust valve springs (recall) and fuel pump impeller (recall)Medium

Recall 17V745: some 2018 Mazda3s were built with the wrong exhaust valve springs, which can break and stall the engine — a free valve-spring replacement. Recall 21V875: the low-pressure fuel pump impeller can deform and stall the engine. Both free; both matter.
