The upscale Duramax hauler — the Sierra 2500HD pairs the respected 6.6L L5P Duramax and Allison automatic with a nicer cabin than the Chevy twin. The L5P is a strong, refined diesel; emissions-system upkeep and abuse history are the watch-items. A documented, un-deleted Sierra HD with a healthy Allison is a capable, comfortable, and durable heavy-duty truck that holds value well.
