One of the best-driving luxury sedans — the G30 5 Series pairs the superb B58 turbo inline-six with a plush, tech-rich cabin, making the 540i a fast, refined, satisfying car. The B58 is stout, but it's a used BMW: budget for cooling, gaskets, and electronics. A documented 540i with full history is a fantastic driver's luxury sedan; a neglected cheap one gets expensive. Buy on records and keep a repair fund.
