The efficiency champion — the Prius Prime plug-in offers ~25 miles of electric range for daily driving, then ~54 mpg hybrid operation, all wrapped in Toyota's legendary reliability. For someone with a short commute and a plug, most driving can be electric. A well-maintained Prius Prime with a healthy battery is one of the cheapest cars to own, period; verify the plug-in battery, electric range, and charging, and enjoy tiny running costs.
