The front radar/camera system can slam the brakes for railroad crossings, overhead signs, oncoming traffic, or nothing at all -- NHTSA's investigation into this same-generation Rogue found nearly 1,400 owner and manufacturer reports and linked the false activations to over a dozen crashes and several injuries. Nissan never recalled it; a software service campaign exists but historically fixed only about half of affected vehicles. Test on roads with overpasses, signs, and railroad crossings, and ask if the software update has been done.
