The all-time hot-hatch benchmark — the Mk7 GTI is quick, refined, practical, and genuinely fun, with a punchy 2.0T and a lovely cabin. Reliable for the class, but it's a German turbo: watch the water pump, carbon buildup, and (on DSG cars) transmission service. A maintained, un-modified GTI is one of the best do-everything cars you can buy used.
