The old-school bargain midsize — the Frontier's ancient (but proven) 4.0L V6 and simple design make it tough, cheap, and easy to work on, if thirsty and dated. There's one important watch-item on some years: a radiator-to-transmission coolant cross-leak (the 'strawberry milkshake' of death) that destroys the automatic. Verify the radiator/cooler history and it's a durable, honest, value-packed truck.
