A fuel tank that leaks when full, a parking brake that corrodes and binds, an alternator that quits, and a rear camera that flickers. All four are free at a dealer. This is a car to buy after a VIN lookup, not before.

Parking brake actuator corrodes — brake binds while driving or fails to hold (recall)Medium

Recall 17V393: water enters the rear caliper, the parking brake actuator shaft corrodes, and the brake either drags or will not hold on a hill. Owners describe a car rolling down a driveway with the handle up. Free repair of both rear calipers. Squeaking from the rear with the handle down is the early sign.

Mazda Connect 'ghost touch' and dead ABS/steering-angle modules; rear camera flicker (recall)Medium

The infotainment screen registers touches nobody made and jumps between functions — the well-known ghost-touch fault on 2014–2018 Mazda Connect screens, fixed with a replacement screen. Recall 23V487 covers a rear camera that flickers or goes blank, with no remedy available for over a year after it was announced. And a couple of owners with the ABS and steering-angle modules failing together at 35,000 miles.
