The sensible sportbike — the Ninja 650's smooth parallel-twin, upright-ish ergonomics, and low running costs make it one of the best beginner-to-intermediate bikes going, comfortable enough to commute and sporty enough to enjoy. Reliable and cheap to insure. Watch for drops and neglected chains. A clean, well-kept Ninja 650 is a fantastic first 'real' sportbike that won't intimidate or bankrupt you.
