Honda's forward-collision system can trigger unexpected hard braking with no obstacle present — often on curves, underpasses, or when a car passes in the oncoming lane. NHTSA's investigation into this exact failure was expanded to cover 2017–2022 CR-V models (the Hybrid included) alongside the Accord, after 278 complaints and several crashes. There's no recall yet; take a longer test drive on varied roads and ask the dealer whether a software update is available.
